Employment Assessments

Many companies, both public and private, use pre-employment psychological testing, as well as assessments of their current workforce, to identify and evaluate any potential risk factors that may impede performance. Whether you are hiring a new employee or are promoting an existing worker to a new role, if you would like our feedback about job fit and development areas, we offer our assessment and interview service to assist you in making the right decisions.

Pre-Employment Psychological Assessments

Critical Assessments provides pre-hire psychological assessments for law enforcement, firefighters, EMS and EMT specialists, security guards, bodyguards, corporate pilots, aviation mechanics, IT specialists, plant operators, engineers, I and C specialists, and other personnel in high-risk, safety-sensitive positions.

Reliable pre-employment assessments for both safety and non-safety sensitive positions require a licensed psychologist with a deep understanding of forensic and clinical psychology. Our psychologists have this experience, and can help you identify potential employees whose personality characteristics may negatively impact job performance, and select candidates who possess other qualities supporting successful performance.

Current Employee Psychological Assessments

Some industries such as in commercial nuclear, are required to have periodic reassessments of certain employees (i.e., critical group positions). Reassessing current employees on regular intervals (every three to five years), is a preventative measure used to determine whether any life events have occurred to create concerns that may need to be addressed before a crisis occurs. These assessments assist employers in maintaining a stable, reliable and trustworthy workforce. They are an invaluable tool for employees coping with mental health problems, offering them a chance to address these issues before a crisis or traumatic incident occurs.

With remote and hybrid work now a permanent part of many organizations, the boundary between work and home life remains blurred for many employees. Reduced face-to-face interaction can lead to feelings of isolation, increased workload, and confusion around roles and expectations. In this environment, it’s especially important for employers to regularly assess how their teams are coping and performing. Regular check-ins and assessments help ensure that remote workers remain engaged, reliable, and equipped to do their jobs safely and effectively—no matter where they’re working from.
